Person of Interest è una serie ideata da JJ Abrams e Jonathan Nolan (Memento, The Prestige, Il cavaliere oscuro).

Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) ha ideato per il governo americano un software fondato su un fitto sistema di sorveglianza che è in grado di scoprire un crimine prima che venga commesso. Quando capisce che il governo è interessato al software solo per stanare terroristi, Finch decide di utilizzarlo in prima persona per combattere i reati comuni.

Per farlo, assolda John Reese (Jim Caviezel), ex agente della CIA che in seguito a un misterioso incidente ha perso la compagna e ha iniziato a vivere da clochard. Uomini feriti e delusi, Finch e Reese  sono entrambi determinati ad agire in nome della giustizia, valicando anche, quando necessario, i limiti della legalità.
